How to Improve Your Looks & Confidence

Despite some people thinking that looks aren’t important, in our society first impressions count and these can often be built by a good appearance. Knowing that you look good can also improve your overall confidence and make you feel happier about yourself, especially when it comes to meeting new people.

There are many reasons why you want to improve the way you look – perhaps you want to boost your confidence as mentioned above, or maybe you are looking for love and want to increase your chances of finding the right person. Whatever your reason, here are some ways that you can go about improving the way you look.

Get enough exercise

You don’t need to turn into a exercise or health fanatic, but getting some regular exercise can really make you feel better about yourself. Exercising for about 20 minutes, five times per week will help to keep you healthier and shed some of the excess kilograms you may be carrying. It doesn’t even need to be too strenuous; just a light jog or cycle ride will do the job, and if you only do this for a short time it won’tfeel like too much of a chore.

Wash your hair regularly

It’s recommended that you wash your hair with a good quality anti-dandruff shampoo, as well as some conditioner every other day, or every day if your hair gets particularly greasy or your play sports. Your hair is an important distinguishing feature and having a clean ‘do’ instantly makes you appear like your look after yourself.

Think about your smile

A nice smile is one of the best ways to make that all-important first impression, though many people do not have the confidence to smile as naturally as they can because they don’t like their teeth showing to other people. This may be because they have gaps, their teeth are wonky or mis-coloured. So why not do something about it? Those with a number of missing teeth may want to consider fixed dentures whilst adult braces are becoming much more popular for those wanting to sort out the positioning of their teeth.

Moisturise your skin

As you get older your skin can dry out and lose its suppleness. However, if you use a good quality moisturiser you can delay the effects of this to ensure you keep the youthfulness of your look for longer. Try to do this every morning – it will also help you feel fresher throughout the first part of the morning.

Get enough sleep

Never underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep. Although everyone is different in terms of the amount of rest they need, the recommended amount for an adult is around 7-8 hours. You can help yourself to do this by avoiding caffeine and alcohol, and not watching TV for the hour or so before you finally go to bed. Having a good night of sleep will help you feel better about facing the day, but also help you to appear fresher and more alert to situations.
